Ripples Foundation (also known as BME Concern or Ripples In Africa) is a British non-governmental organization (Reg No. 1116698) that works primarily with women in the United Kingdom, United States and the countries of Nigeria, Cameroon, and Ghana to alleviate extreme poverty in Africa. The organization often partners with other organizations in order to meet its goals of "supporting women in distress, promoting inclusion and community cohesion, and working to raise levels of tolerance through education, art, sports, and culture." == History == Ripples Foundation was founded in the UK in 2005 by Anne Phillips under the name BME Concern. BME Concern partnered with Ripples in Africa in 2011 to deliver women's empowerment projects in West Africa, and, after four years working together, BME Concern and Ripples In Africa merged and changed its name to Ripples Foundation in 2015. In 2015 Ripples Foundation was granted 501(c)(3) status by the Internal Revenue Service in the United States (under EIN No. 47-3722946).
